Fishing report:
Trout, flounder
make for hot spring

Fishing, which had been slow through the spring, began to pick up at the end of May.
Gray trout were abundant in late spring, Holes at mile markers 33 and 35 were particularly productive.
Flounder fishing was also good. Many fishermen reported some of the best spring flounder fishing they could recall. Good-sized flounder were caught in the usual place - on the backside of the hook at the Cape - and also just north and south of the Great Island camp.
Drum fishing wasn't anything to get too excited about, but some nice black drum were caught at Drum Inlet. Pompano began appearing in the suds, and Spanish mackerel were being caught in early June at the Cape.
Before heading to the island, check out the fishing report at drumwagon.com, the web site maintained by DIFF members, Jack and Tom Dunaway.
